About ACLS : Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training & Certification For Health Care Providers

Providers will enhance their skills in treating adult victims of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.  This course emphasizes the:

•    importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival
•    integration of effective basic life support with ACLS interventions
•    importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation

The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader.

Who Should Take This Class?

Healthcare providers working in emergency treatment, intensive care or critical care, and other professionals who may need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. This course is appropriate for EMT's and other emergency responders, nurses, nursing students, firefighters, and other medical professionals.

This Course Consists Of:

•    1-rescuer CPR, AED
•    Defibrillation
•    Airway management
•    Rhythm recognition
•    IV/IO access
•    Use of medications
•    Cardioversion
•    Transcutaneous pacing
•    Effective resuscitation team dynamics

This course is classroom-based, including instructor and video, with skills conducted throughout. Our ACLS training is conducted onsite in downtown Santa Cruz. If you would like to schedule a class in another location, please contact us to discuss your needs.

In the classroom, students engage in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA ACLS Instructor to complete ACLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

American Heart Association ACLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card valid for two (2) years.
